Do Your Employees Know Your Mission?
I often ask this to my fellow business-owning friends:
👉 “Do your employees know what your mission is?”
Some laugh it off:
“What a silly question — why should they know where I want to be?”
But let’s pause.
Imagine you’re on a mountain trek.
You know your destination — the peak.
But your team doesn’t.
Now think what happens:
⛺ Some leave you mid-way and join other trekkers.
😓 Some give up — not because it’s hard, but because they don’t know what they’re climbing.
🥱 Some follow you, but with no energy — just walking, not trekking.
But what if… you told them clearly:
“This is our mountain. That’s our peak. This is why we’re climbing.”
Now:
💡 Before leaving, they’ll think twice — is another group really heading somewhere better?
💪 Even if tired, your mission will re-energize them.
🔥 They won’t just walk beside you. They’ll believe in the climb.
They’ll stop being “hired employees” — and start becoming co-owners of the mission.
🔁 So here’s the real ask:
Don’t just put your mission on the website.
🎯 Reinforce it — every day.
In every action. Every decision. Every communication.
Let every single task — big or small — connect back to that mountain.
Because when your team sees the peak,
They’ll climb harder,
Fall less,
And stick longer.
Not because they’re paid to —
But because they want to.
